Character Development
}“Well, aren’t you just wonderful~!”~ Hope{Personality
—~—}Sunny Smile
Hope Winchester was never the type of child to frown when things went wrong and, even in the wisdom of adulthood, that hasn’t changed. It’s very rare to see her with anything less than a gentle, welcoming smile upon her face—even in the worst of situations she seldom lets the negative side keep her down. A positive beacon of cheer and optimism, her ability to always see the bright side far surpasses the darkness that permeates the world crafted in the wake of The Veil’s collapse.
Mindful Manners
Hope—sometimes known by other hunters by the moniker of ‘Esperanzada’—isn’t solely a positive soul, but a respectful one as well. No matter what she is faced with, she always treats others with utmost respect, even if they don’t necessarily deserve it. Common use of ‘sir’ or ‘ma’am’ can throw some people off their guard, especially when she even goes so far as to apply this to demons out for her own blood. She’ll always ‘beg your pardon’ if she feels she’s overstepping her bounds, never intentionally drops her ‘pleases’ and ‘thank yous’, and is guaranteed to apologise for her misgivings (such as the extremely rare times she curses). Sometimes this can seem mocking in the instances such mannerisms are delivered, but it is always well-meant. It’s also advised to mind one’s manners in her presence.
Just Fun Lovin’
Miss Winchester, for all her nuances, is a simple person at heart. She’s the kind of person who simply wants to enjoy life at every twist and turn, meaning that she’ll always find a positive amidst the tumult and isn’t afraid to put aside time to have fun. Attending concerts, riding her motorcycle across the country, and visiting amusement parks; relaxing in the sun, playing cards, or watching her favourite shows—even the thrill of the hunt. It’s all fundamentally the same, each with a distinct flavour of fun. Why should anyone or anything ruin that?
Free Spirit
Hope is nothing if not a lover of freedom. Though she’ll happily abide by the laws as necessary, she loves nothing more than being free of restrictions, hence why her favoured places of rest tend to be out in the woods or on long and empty roads. Civilisation doesn’t bother her, but she has a preference for what isn’t enforced over that which is. Let her have her freedom and, by whatever divinity you pray to, don’t be the kind of person to crush the freedom of others.{Appearance
—~—}Body Shape, Facial Features, Etc.
Hope Winchester is a woman of considerable height, standing at an impressive if sometimes daunting 6’3” (190 cm) and weighing in at an approximate 160 pounds (72.6 kg). Despite her imposing stature, her proportions are rather natural and balanced, with a tame hourglass figure and moderate lengthiness to her limbs. Truly, only her height is really unusual, though even then nothing special. Her skin is medium fair, tanning minimally but with a healthy warmth to it. No other unusual bodily features are obvious at a glance, but she’s at least a little toned.
A rounded face has become somewhat more of a heart shape as she’s aged, but maintains a youthful smile and soft yet readily defined features typical of somebody of caucasian descent. Her eyes are quite a dominant feature of her visage, inky black yet somehow vivid and full of light. Hope’s hair is quite an iconic mix of jet black and pure white, falling around her head in such a way that it somewhat resembles a hood, cut off at about nape length. Mostly centre parted, white side bangs and a prominent frontal bang frame her smiling face, with other streaks of white present atop and at nearer the back.
Outfit & Accessories
Hope’s wardrobe can vary a little, but she tends to travel in her trademark coat. She typically favours blue jeans and colourful tops, with her aesthetic being considered by many to be very ‘western’.{• Western Girl}
A simple combination of blue skinny jeans, brown leather belt, and a light yellow and white-chequered shirt. A pair of black, white, and grey snakeskin cowboy boots—minus the spurs—and the presence of a simple cocoa brown scarf complete a general aesthetic that couples the modern with the old west. A matching monochromatic snakeskin vest also covers her upper half, adding to the design.
Hope almost always wears a long trench coat, pale brown in colour, and can often be found paired together with her favourite Stetson hat.{Skills

—~—}That ‘Can Do’ Attitude
Racial Trait
Strength
Despite being little more than a human, Hope is capable of tapping into an immense wellspring of physical strength—perhaps augmented by ambient magic as well as actual might—and uses it to deliver powerful blows to would-be opponents, as well as to fuel her athleticism. Primarily, she uses her strength as a means of control over her weapons and tools, rather than as a direct advantage, helping to minimise recoil and resistance.
Snake Eyes
Racial Trait
Precision
Hope’s accuracy with her weapons is uncanny, as is her general ability to compensate for subtleties, which shows she had an innate instinct for honing in on what’s important. Generally, if she can see it, she can shoot it, but her precision also boils down to being naturally talented at gauging distances and physical stresses based on all manner of subtle criteria.{Combat Foci

Gunslinging & Evasion
A style of combat that focuses mostly around the use of firearms and footwork, coupling certain fundamental martial arts principles with those of gunplay to pelt threats with bullets while deftly dodging their own assaults. Hope applies these principles in tandem to become a ranged menace, but one shouldn’t deny that she is more than capable of applying herself in close quarters with exactly the same style.{• Techniques:—}

A regular nine millimetre pistol with an odd but reasonable twenty-one round magazine, which Hope uses as a supporting tool in combat. It’s nothing special, not least of which because she’s had to replace it on numerous occasions.

Upgrades — Improved Impact
A heavier and uniquely designed eight-chamber, .45 calibre revolver and Hope’s main Devil Hunting tool; its silver body boasts a subtly engraved tribal design that some say resembles the tendrils of a jellyfish reaching towards the muzzle. The grip is black and fits Hope’s hand perfectly, but the weapon’s modifications mean that each round hits with significantly more force than almost any other gun of matching calibre, making it an effective weapon against heavier demons and tough foes.{Devil Arms

A Devil Arm in disguise, though Hope currently has no idea, for it takes the form of a custom motorcycle that was given to her by her father. She’s had it for many years without it awakening and it serves as her trusted mount and favourite joyride vehicle.{• Techniques:—}

Dormant
A second dormant Devil Arm in the form of a bō staff—or at least a very similar weapon—which Hope seldom uses much, but draws out on occasion. To her, it’s more of a symbol than a tool, hence her strange reservations about using it too often. When she does draw it, she’s quite proficient with it. It’s a simple arm made of polished, dark wood.{• Techniques:—}

Background
}“Something tells me I could’ve been a lot worse off, but that was then and this is now, so I’d best not catch y’all moping about it!”~ Hope• Born in the southern United States, Hope Winchester was a decidedly average girl destined for a mostly normal life, but even from birth it was clear she was something a little more special. Despite complications during birth, she was a healthy newborn whose personality already seemed to have formed from infancy. A quiet baby who didn’t really cry much and seemed to want to laugh and smile whenever she could, she was an absolute bundle of delight from the get-go.
• Passing childhood didn’t change that, her optimism and joyfulness insurmountable, and her ability to ignore insult and injury being a key facet of avoiding bullies. Even in her early teenage years, where social stigma and cruelty are rife, she cared not. She certainly would agree now that she came out much stronger for all of these instances, but nothing could make a lasting impression upon this actual Hope of the Winchesters. For those who care to believe in past lives, it’s almost as if the negativity of a previous incarnation was more than enough for this one, too.
• As a young adult, Miss Winchester’s father would often take her on hunting trips, teaching her how to shoot and how to ride a motorcycle, and a few other tricks that would soon enough become relevant. Taught about a world that existed beyond their own, Hope found she was forever sitting on the proverbial fence of chaos and order, but she wouldn’t have that any other way. Her father, a decent independent Devil Hunter in his own right, would soon pass, and with it she would inherit his motorcycle and trademark weapon, Lightning Rod.
• Effectively an independent Devil Hunter in the making, Hope was quick to prove herself a capable individual, if only because there was almost nothing demons could do that would wipe the smile off her face. Armed with a bike, staff, and firearms, she would be one to prove that there was no greater weapon than state of mind—abundant optimism being a far keener blade than those used by veteran hunters. Hope’s been in the business since, travelling and taking jobs as necessary, and she doesn’t plan on turning away from this life of hers, despite the dangers it presents…
